About

Christy Logeman, RCC, M.Ed., Counselling Psychology

Who I Am

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (#17630).

Vancouver is my home, and I provide virtual counselling – confidential video or telephone calls, both on a secure platform – to people throughout the province of British Columbia.

I completed a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia, and my supervised clinical training at the New Westminster UBC Counselling Centre. I also did a specialty track in vocational rehabilitation counselling and disability management. During my post-graduate internship, I counselled both adults and teens with a wide range of issues, acquired skills in clinical assessment, and facilitated groups in addictions and anger management.

I currently support individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, addiction, and trauma-related stress. I provide vocational rehabilitation counselling for people facing barriers to employment, and those returning to work following an injury. I also offer counselling for teens who are challenged by social and emotional issues, and I give parents strategies they can use to improve family dynamics.

Approach To Change

I am loyal to the counselling profession and will provide you with supportive, clinically informed counselling sessions. I listen carefully to you with compassion and an open heart and mind. We’ll work together to manage difficult emotions and find a fresh perspective on those (time-worn) stories we tell ourselves, building the psychological flexibility to achieve connection with others and the wiggle room to grow. Self-awareness can simply lead to change.
I use a person-centred model to therapeutic change by helping you to achieve your goals based on your values and life experiences. Initially we build trust in our sessions together, then we define the problem and how it negatively affects you and your relationships and hinders your quality of life. You can begin to break down self-defeating ways that cover up difficult emotions and begin to make changes. Our work together can bring about transformation and a sense of peace.
When working with couples I provide concrete strategies to help you communicate effectively, understand each other more deeply, and manage conflict. My work with teens is informed by acceptance-based therapies that examine thoughts, feelings and behaviour change so teens grow into healthy individuals. Our work in vocational rehabilitation counselling is a collaborative process in which we consider your abilities and the barriers you can overcome to re-engage in meaningful work.
