Services

Supporting individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions and grief. I also offer counselling for parents and teens.

Individual Counselling

When anxiety creeps in or depression will not budge, we need connection the most

Wrestling with anxiety and depression alone leads to feelings of isolation, which in turn deepens our experience of anxiety and depression. Talking to a counsellor can provide the support you need and the strategies you can use to bring about awareness and change.

Grief and loss exist in all of us. We grieve the loss of a loved one, or a pet… but we also grieve during transition periods in our lives. Positive change also results in grieving the familiar, but we can build resilience to transform our perception of that dark place.

As a skilled helper, I consider your values and unique experiences before introducing evidence-based approaches to change in our therapy sessions.

Relationship Counselling

We can improve the quality of our relationships. But first, a little perspective-taking

Being in relationship with another can be tricky. How can we find common ground? This is where perspective-taking – taking a point of view that is not your own – can be used to manage conflict and to restore quality friendships, improve romantic relationships, and repair family ties.

I work with couples and families searching for mutual happiness in their relationships. Together we practice communication strategies that help one another feel heard and understood. We explore the assumptions and behaviours that trouble you and your partner or loved one, to begin to separate you from the problem issues and strengthen your bonds.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling

Counselling support for individuals facing barriers to employment

Vocational rehabilitation counselling is for people who have difficulty engaging in work due to chronic pain, physical disability or injury, mental health concerns, or other obstacles to employment. Our vocational rehabilitation counselling sessions will focus on ways to adapt to these issues that affect your return to work process.

I have completed courses and training in medical and psychosocial aspects of disability management and vocational rehabilitation through the UBC Vocational Rehabilitation Counselling Program, which is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counsellor Education Programs (CACEP).

Teen Issues

Counselling and support for adolescents with social and emotional difficulties

Teens can experience anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulty adjusting to changes in their lives. Teens ask for help with their behaviours: acting out or shutting down is often how they communicate their feelings.

I counsel teens with a range of social and emotional issues, and I rely on my clinical training in suicide prevention practices and substance use risk assessment to provide thorough care. My sessions with parents also include therapeutic techniques that you can use with your teen to improve your relationship.
